Mediq is an international healthcare company that serves healthcare professionals and patients with medical devices, healthcare products and innovative solutions. Mediq works with hospitals, healthcare facilities, GPs and nurses to enable them to provide the best possible care. 

Mediq has leading market positions in 13 countries. The head office is located just outside Utrecht, the Netherlands. More than 2,500 employees are committed to improve healthcare outcomes and the affordability of care.

When Corona emerged, Mediq was faced with 2 challenges: 

1. invest heavily to adapt the regular business processes to market demands,
2. invest in hardware to equip their +1000 employees with laptops to enable remote working.

Making both investments would place an excessive burden on the company. So they looked for a solution to invest in hardware without requiring a huge cashflow. Leasing the equipment emerged as a suitable solution.

Mediq opted to lease the hardware, which supports them in several ways:

• they have a more transparent view on their products' lifecycle, as well as on the relevant contracts
• they were able to standardize many processes
• the operational costs have decreased
• additional services can be set up very flexibly

GREEN SOLUTION

The savings allowed Mediq to add carbonZER0, the upgrade for carbon-neutral IT leasing, to its lease agreement with CHG-MERIDIAN. By opting for carbonZER0 they offset the CO2 emissions that are generated throughout the lifecycle of the CHG-MERIDIAN financed IT assets, from production, transportation and use phase to end-of-life phase. By also adding the Closing the Loop option, Mediq is able to offset the related e-waste. In this way, the solution of CHG-MERIDIAN contributes to achieving Mediq's CSR objectives.
